CLM Counties Manukau is seeking motivated, enthusiastic and professional individuals for a number of new community sport development and engagement management positions.

CLM Counties Manukau is responsible for bringing to life the new Auckland Approach to Community Sport in the Counties Manukau area, working collaboratively with Aktive – Auckland Sport & Recreation (Aktive) and other partners to achieve the vision of ‘Auckland – the world’s most active city’.

We are seeking people for the roles outlined below:

Community Sport Engagement Manager

This role is responsible for leading the development and engagement of ‘Communities of Activity’. This role is focused on striving towards growth in participation, promotion of community leadership, engagement of local communities and provision of a range of sporting and recreation opportunities via appropriate providers.  This is a senior, key role and will have a team reporting to it, so experience in leading, motivating and engaging others is essential.

For this role we are ideally seeking applicants with:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent in either Sport Management, Sport development or similar
  • Minimum five years’ experience in Community Sport at a senior level
  • Knowledge and experience of strategic community development/engagement using sport as the catalyst
  • Knowledge and understanding of the sport and recreation sector in Auckland
  • Experience in planning, managing and prioritising multiple and competing tasks.

Sector Development / Spaces and Places Manager

This role is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to sector development and places and spaces in Counties Manukau in line with  strategic plans for the region.

The role works with Aktive, Auckland Council and individual sports codes and clubs to develop long term plans and to upgrade existing and new facilities across Counties Manukau to meet future needs.  The role also works closely with delivery partners to build their leadership, governance and administrative skills, providing transparent and accountable leadership, expertise and assistance to Regional Sports Organisations (RSO) and Sports Clubs in Counties Manukau.

For this role we are ideally seeking applicants with:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working within Community Sport, implementing appropriate sector development/spaces and places strategies and support to the sport sector.
  • Experience in strategic planning and operational implementation
  • Experience in influencing national, regional and local decision/policy makers
  • Knowledge and understanding of the sport and recreation sector in Auckland
  • Experience in planning, managing and prioritising multiple and competing tasks.

 

Young People’s Manager

The key purpose of this position is to provide leadership for Counties Manukau in the development of strategies and tactics that engage young people in sport and active recreation.  The primary focus for this role is young people aged 5 – 18 years.

The role is required to develop and oversee implementation of a Young People’s Plan for Counties Manukau, ensuring young people can access quality sport and recreation opportunities and experiences in the home, school, club and community environments.  It is important that the role ensures there is strategic alignment to regional strategies, frameworks and approaches regarding Young People.

For this role, we are ideally seeking applicants with/who:

  • Must have worked in or for schools and therefore are able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the school environment and education system in New Zealand
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in creating and implementing participation strategies for young people
  • Experience in or working with organisations that focus on young people
  • Experience influencing regional and local decision/policy makers
  • Knowledge and understanding of the sport and recreation sector in Counties Manukau
  • Experience in planning, managing and prioritising multiple and competing tasks.

 

Coaching & Talent Development Manager

This role focuses on providing coaching leadership and consultancy support for Counties Manukau sports organisations.  The role aims to build the skills and capability of coaches, together with ensuring alignment of coach development plans, systems and support structures with a coaching peer group in other parts of Auckland.

For this role we are ideally seeking applicants with:

  • Strong understanding of coach development, aligned to previous experience of coach development planning and delivery at club and RSO levels
  • Skills and experience in identifying and developing strong relationships, demonstrating leadership, and the ability to relate to people at all levels
  • Experience in planning, managing and prioritising multiple and competing tasks, with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent understanding of the sport sector in Counties Manukau
  • A relevant degree in Sports Coaching, Sports Science or Sports Development
  • Have a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar coach/talent development role.
