Harbour Sport has a portfolio of events including the Mud Monster Mud Rush, Shore to Shore, Sports Excellence Awards, Harbour Sport Golf Day and the Northcote Chinese New Year’s Festival. We are looking for a professional Events Manager to primarily lead and further innovate these signature events to increase revenue from them, for Harbour Sport to invest in other local projects. Managing partner relationships as well as bringing new events into the portfolio are other aspects of this exciting full-time role.

Harbour Sport is a Regional Sports Trust, one of 18 throughout New Zealand and is an information hub for sport and recreation in the North Harbour region. We are a lead facilitator for the development of sport and recreation in our region and developing the sector’s capability is a key driving force. Through our influence we want more people to participate in sport and recreation.

Harbour Sport is looking for someone who has managed significant events previously and wants to grow Harbour Sport Events. They need to have a passion for events and be able to create an events strategy, develop business plans, Gantt charts and budgets and manage them effectively.

The Events Manager needs to be a strong leader, with the ability to lead and influence others, developing strong relationships across the organisation internally and with a variety of key stakeholders externally. Managing and developing relationships with sponsors and partners is crucial to the ongoing success of these events and the further development of other successful events. Experience in relationship management, marketing, sponsorship development and sales is desirable.

Harbour Sport is looking for someone who is results oriented with strong verbal and written skills. They need to be flexible and able to identify and resolve problems quickly. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are a must, along with being comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with variable hours and some evening and weekend work.

Harbour Sport needs a highly self-motivated person who can think creatively and encourage innovative ideas. Leading the development of creative marketing and communications collateral is essential as well as being social media savvy.

We need a person who has the ability to execute and manage large events (7000 participants) with excellent project management skills, who is also a creative thinker and fast learner.

Sound computer skills are required as well as superior spoken English.
