Harbouring Partnership and Opportunity

Harbour Sport continues to provide quality opportunities and experiences for commercial partners. There is an ongoing need to generate more income through commercial partnerships to help support the extensive community programmes delivered and supported by Harbour Sport. Harbour Sports events; the Mud Rush, Shore to Shore and Sporting Excellence Awards continue to grow and engage the community consequently providing fantastic exposure for partners involved. Harbour Sport programmes including ActivAsian, Bike, Coaching, SportsPacifik and the Health and Wellbeing initiatives are having major impact in the community have created some more commercial opportunities.

Development of a Harbour Sport events team allowed Harbour event to extend the opportunities for partner engagement. A greater service has allowed more opportunities for partners leverage opportunities and increase their involvement.

Local boards continue to work align with Harbour Sport to shape their local communities by promoting sport and recreation to develop health, social and economic benefits, as well as providing an enhanced sense of identity and wellbeing.

Charitable Trusts and Gaming funders have provided essential funding for the many important sport and recreation programs and projects throughout the year.

Shore to Shore

Shore to Shore

Shore to Shore was back for 2016 on Sunday, April 3rd! Shore to Shore is the  North Shore’s largest 5km fun run with over 6,000 participants entering in 2015. The run starts at Takapuna Grammar School, heads along both the picturesque  Takapuna and Milford beaches and ends at Milford Reserve.

This event brings together the North Shore community and supports local schools by providing them with an opportunity to raise funds for much needed sports gear. Everyone got their friends,  parents, Aunties, Uncles and even their Grandparents together,  dressed them up, and joined us for the fun!

Mud Monster

Mud Monster Mud Rush

A record number of 1881 participants crawled, climbed and clambered through mud at Harbour Sport’s annual Mud Monster Mud Rush on the weekend. Under spring like skies families and friends alike gathered at Massey University for the first event at this new site.

“A significant change from last year were the huge number of friends and families participating” said Harbour Sport Event Manager Jess Raymond, “although previously there were some groups, everyone seems to have decided that doing it with your mates is so much more fun”.

The course had 17 obstacles including the expected tunnels, swings, climbing wall, tyres, haystack, creek run, climbing frame, bush run and slides. There were 3 different mud and water slides including the 20 metre finale mud slide which ended with a huge pool and great splash at the end.

Sport Excellence Awards

This year’s awards evening will be celebrated on
Friday 25th November 2016
The Spencer on Byron
Harbour Sport is proud to announce the 2016 annual Massey University Harbour Sport Excellence Awards. The awards recognise exceptional performances and contribution to sport in the North Harbour region.
Previous winners include Lydia Ko, Lisa Carrington, Shaun Johnson, Tom Abercrombie, Tony Woodcock and Jacko Gill. This is an opportunity to showcase the stellar sporting talent in the region.
