Harbour Sport’s Active for Life team is looking for a passionate and people focused Healthy Lifestyle Advisor to empower individuals and whānau across Waitematā to live healthier, more active lives. About the Role 

As a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor, you’ll provide person centred support for people referred to the Green Prescription (GRx) and Active Families (AF) programmes. This includes helping clients improve their health and wellbeing, set goals, build confidence, and adopt sustainable habits through physical activity and improved nutrition. 

Your work will involve a mix of face to face consultations, phone support, group workshops, online engagement, and participation in community activities. You’ll work with diverse populations including Māori, Pasifika, Asian communities, people living with disabilities, and whānau from all walks of life.  

What You’ll Do 

  • Support clients to improve physical activity, nutrition and overall wellbeing 
  • Deliver both 1:1 and group based education, coaching and activity sessions 
  • Provide culturally responsive, evidence based guidance 
  • Create engaging, supportive environments that help people achieve meaningful health outcomes 
  • Build strong relationships with community partners, GP practices, leisure centres and local organisations 
  • Contribute to the delivery of our Active Families/Active Teens programmes 
  • Represent Harbour Sport at local events and help promote Active for Life programmes within the community. 

What You’ll Bring 

  • A tertiary qualification in exercise science, nutrition, public health or a related field 
  • Experience supporting healthy lifestyles within health, community, sport, recreation or clinical settings 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly 
  • Cultural competence and confidence working with Māori, Pasifika and diverse communities 
  • Skills in motivational interviewing, goalsetting or behaviour change are advantageous 
  • Ability to deliver engaging workshops or group sessions 
  • A positive, professional approach with strong initiative and great teamwork 
  • A current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
