We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Sector Support Team as a Women and Girls Advisor.
This pivotal role will focus on providing expertise in Women and Girls, while also leading initiatives that contribute to the sustainability of community sport.
Auckland is a complex multi-cultural environment with many challenges, but also unparalleled opportunities to increase and sustain participation regarding our target groups-children (tamariki) and young people (rangatahi) 5-18 years, particularly within low socio-economic areas; girls and young women aged 10-18 years; Māori, Indian, Samoan, and Chinese ethnicities, in play, physical education, active recreation, and sport.
This has led to the establishment of the strategic response known as The Auckland Approach to Community Sport, which contributes to the vision of Auckland being the world’s most active city.
The primary objective of the role is to provide Sector Support to the Harbour region, with a particular focus on organisational development and advancing opportunities for women and girls.
Three key areas of the role include:
- Sector Support – Assisting sports organisations in building their capacity, improving governance structures, and enhancing operational effectiveness.
- Leadership and Collaboration – Manage and influence the implementation of initiatives that promote, educate, advocate and support gender equity outcomes in organisations across our region
- Advocacy & Promotion – Support, connect and promote Women & Girls professional development opportunities.
Key accountabilities include:
- Organisational development and advancing opportunities for Women and Girls
- Collaborating with stakeholders from other RSTs, RSOs, Clubs, Schools
- Conduct research and analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the sports sector
- Support the capacity building of sports organisations and professionals by delivering training, workshops
- Foster partnerships and networks within the sports sector to share knowledge, best practices, and resources
- Contribute to the overall objectives and initiatives of the Harbour Sport Sector Support team, and wider Community Sport team.
This is a full-time position. The successful candidate needs to be flexible in their working hours as some before and/or after work hours are required to meet the needs of the community.
