General Manager – North Harbour Gymnastics (NHG)

North Harbour Gymnastics (NHG) is a leading gymnastics club dedicated to fostering excellence, participation, and community engagement. We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead our club into its next phase of growth and success.

 

About the Role

As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of NHG across multiple venues. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen, exceptional people skills, and a commitment to transparency and integrity. You will work closely with the HR Manager to ensure a positive, inclusive culture and lead by example. Show up, take ownership, and deliver results.

 

Key Responsibilities

?  Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure the smooth running of all programs and services across multiple venues.

?  Manage budgets, financial planning, and reporting to maintain a sustainable and thriving organisation.

?  Drive growth and development initiatives to maximise the club’s potential.

?  Establish clear accountability for senior leaders to manage and grow financially sustainable and profitable programs.

?  Collaborate closely with the Board, providing honest and accurate reporting.

?  Work hand-in-hand with the HR Manager to foster a positive, fair, and transparent culture.

?  Demonstrate leadership that promotes trust, integrity, and accountability.

?  Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including members, staff, sponsors, and the Board.

?  Build and maintain strategic relationships with key external stakeholders, including funding bodies, sponsors, and counterparts in other gymnastics and sporting organisations.

?  Secure funding through grants and sponsorships, ensuring compliance and effective utilisation.

?  Understand and manage key organisational risks, including health and safety, financial, and reputational risks.

?  Apply sound HR practices to support staff development and compliance.

 

About You

?  Background in gymnastics is highly beneficial (as an athlete, coach, or leader).

?  Proven experience in CEO / General Manager roles within sport or community organisations.

?  Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting.

?  Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

?  Comprehensive understanding of funding and grant processes.

?  Knowledge of HR practices and risk management.

?  Demonstrated ability to lead teams with integrity, inspire performance, and foster growth.
