Harbour Sport is pleased to host a Principals Hui on Friday, 6 June, bringing together principal leaders from primary schools involved in the Healthy Active Learning initiative and secondary school principals and deputy principals for this special event.
We are delighted to welcome Gregor Fountain, Sport NZ’s Strategic Engagement Manager, as our guest speaker. Gregor brings over 25 years of experience as a secondary school teacher and leader, having served as Principal of Paraparaumu College (2013-2018) and Wellington College (2018-2022). He is a dedicated community volunteer, passionate about sport and youth development, and is a father of three teenage boys. Gregor lives in Newtown and often enjoys walking or running through Wellington’s town belt.
Active Bodies, Active Minds
While many principals understand that physical activity benefits students’ wellbeing, engagement, and achievement, what concrete evidence supports this? Gregor will present research findings and share compelling stories highlighting the impact of school-based physical activity. The session will also offer an opportunity for you to share your own experiences and challenges in prioritizing sport, play, and active recreation within your schools.
Together, we aim to reaffirm our commitment to promoting movement as a vital part of students’ educational and personal development.
