Community Activator – Greater Albany (12 month, fixed term)

Harbour Sport is seeking an energetic Community Activator to champion community-led development (CLD) across Greater Albany.

What you’ll do

  • Activate neighbourhoods: Co-design and facilitate resident-led events, placemaking and local projects
  • Grow leaders: Mentor emerging community leaders; run peer learning and skills workshops
  • Build resilience: Convene the Albany Emergency Working Group & Community Resilience Network; co-design simple, trusted comms and plans
  • Plan & deliver: Co-develop (with Council partners) a practical community development plan aligned to UHEPP and Local Board priorities—and deliver it
  • Broker partnerships: Connect community organisations, mana whenua, schools and volunteers to align efforts and share what works
  • Track impact: Capture stories of change, participation data and feedback for reporting and continuous improvement

What you’ll bring

  • Hands-on CLD / asset-based practice; confident facilitation and project coordination
  • Proven ability to engage diverse communities (including Asian and MELAA communities) with cultural competence
  • Relationship-builder with clear, plain-language communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft 365 and online collaboration tools
  • Full, clean NZ driver licence; some evening/weekend work; able to obtain a Police vet and First Aid certificate

Great if you also have: Local knowledge of Greater Albany; CIMS/emergency management training; additional language(s).
