April’s volunteer of the month sees a dedicated netball coach, turned chair women, win the award. This lady is in her 4th season with the club and within this time the number of teams on offer have doubled from 5 to 10. The huge increase in the number of teams has been put down to her love and enthusiasm for the sport. This month’s winner is Trisha Beamish from Matakana Hawks Netball Club, all the hard work she puts in is verified in the statement below:
“Trisha is a Year 5/6 teacher at Matakana School who despite her very busy working schedule, kindly put up her hand last year to take over the role as Chair of our Club when no one else could. Trisha had been with the Club for 2 years as a Coach before also becoming Chair last year. She is now in her 4th season doing both roles and has made a huge impact in such a short time. She displays both a strong love of the game and a strong connection with kids, and her high level of energy and enthusiasm is infectious. It’s clearly evident that all her work, coaching, fundraising, umpiring and organising has been the catalyst to inject a new lease of life into the Club – she is highly regarded by all, and her natural leadership abilities has drawn more people into the Club.
Last year she put together a small committee to help rebuild the structure and team numbers of the Club. Under her leadership, the Club achieved good results with all 5 teams. The team Trisha coaches won their Grade at the Wellsford tournament. Most strikingly, this year with her encouragement and drive, the Club size has doubled its team numbers from 5 to 10 – this is a direct result of her sharing her love and enthusiasm for the game with the kids. They enjoy her positive and infectious leadership and will now go on to participate in a sport that they had not previously considered. Her real strength lies in her ability to make learning the game fun for the kids, but still encouraging them to be competitive and strive to do their best. She’s an absolute asset to our netball community and an inspiring role model.”
The amount of commitment and dedication Trisha has shown throughout the last 4 seasons makes her a truly worthy winner of our Volunteer of the Month award. All of Trisha’s hard work was recognised because she was nominated!
