Active for Life – Green Prescription – March 2021
What is your background with health and fitness?
Jessie has three young children, including a one-year-old. Unfortunately, she has found that between family and work commitments, her self-care has taken a back seat. This included not eating well regularly and consuming a lot of sugar.
How was your journey with Green Prescription?
Jessie’s initial introduction to nutrition support was attending an online seminar.
Following this, she received extra support from the Green Prescription nutritionist and discussed some challenges around meal planning and preparing healthy snacks. Jessie said she was aware of a lot of things that had developed into habits which she was enthusiastic to change.
After several consultations with the nutritionist, a plan was developed and Jessie began her journey, she was also sent resources for extra support.
What was your main goal when joining the Green Prescription programme?
Jessies goal was to get back on track after her third baby, this involved improving nutrition habits and an increase in physical activity, these changes had an immediate positive impact on her as she started to exhibit signs of improved mental and physical health.
What results/impact has your nutrition journey had?
Jessie has made changes to the foods her family are eating by increasing the amount of wholegrains and vegetables each day, she has developed a system of four-week meal planning and was making more of an effort to eat breakfast and prepare healthy lunches.
Jessie now thinks more carefully about what she is eating and drinking and notices when she is eating because of habit rather than hunger.
What are your future goals?
Jessie is eager to continue making changes and lose the baby weight she has gained over time, she has allowed herself a realistic timeframe for this to occur, and with the initial changes made to her lifestyle, this goal is completely attainable. Good luck for the rest of your journey.
“Green Prescription helped me to get into better habits- I’ve cut way down on sugar and alcohol and now eat good breakfasts more regularly.”
