Lead a passionate team, own your space, and make a lasting difference in the lives of older adults across Tāmaki Makaurau.

About the Role

Harbour Sport is on the hunt for a dynamic, people-focused leader to take the reins of our Community Strength & Balance (S&B) Programme. This initiative plays a vital role in reducing falls and improving wellbeing for older adults by connecting them to safe, effective, and engaging community-based exercise opportunities.

You’ll lead a team of dedicated specialists and be the go-to for regional health agencies, community partners, and leisure providers. This is your chance to ‘own’ a high-impact programme, strengthen community connections, and deliver meaningful outcomes for our kaumātua.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead and inspire the Strength & Balance team to deliver on all aspects of the ACC contract.
  • Build strong relationships with Te Whatu Ora, ACC, local councils, and community providers.
  • Manage programme delivery, budgets, reporting, and HR for the team.
  • Oversee the implementation of referral pathways and ensure quality control for all approved classes.
  • Identify opportunities to grow and innovate, reaching high-needs and priority populations.
  • Represent Harbour Sport at regional falls prevention networks and national forums.

About You:

You’re a natural leader with a collaborative approach and a knack for relationship-building. You thrive on continuous improvement and know how to bring a team together around a shared kaupapa. You’ll be organised, strategic, and values-driven, with a heart for community health.

We’re looking for:

  • Proven staff leadership and programme management experience.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in community health, sport, recreation, or allied health (preferred but not essential).
  • Excellent organisational, reporting and budget management skills.
  • A genuine commitment to improving the wellbeing of older adults.

This is a full-time role at 40hr/week based at our office in Albany.
