Harbour Sport has a vision of a physically active and healthy community and strives to influence more people to participate in sport and physical activity. Our strategy is focused on our tamariki and rangatahi and the Māori, Pasifika and Asian populations in the North Harbour region. By providing advocacy, expertise, investment and resource, Harbour Sport models and shares best practice in governance, management, leadership and community development to sports clubs and organisations in our local area.

As we have trustees nearing the end of their appointed terms, Harbour Sport is seeking to recruit new trustees to join our stable and experienced board. We particularly seek an applicant with skills and experience to strengthen our Te Aō Māori capability and to reflect the diversity of our community and encourage applications from Tangata Whenua. We seek a range of commercial and professional skills across our board but applicants with experience in HR and/or finance would also be especially welcomed.

Harbour Sport holds the Governance Mark quality standard for sport and recreation demonstrating a commitment to high quality governance. The Board has a strong governance culture, operates at a strategic level, and has a deep commitment to meeting the needs of the Harbour Sport community. Collegiality and the ability to work constructively with fellow trustees along with preparedness to be an active contributor and to commit the time and effort required are all key attributes we seek.

This is a voluntary appointment with bi-monthly in-person board meetings and additional sub-committee meetings. It is expected that interested applicants will have an affinity with the region that Harbour Sport operates in and a passion for the work that Harbour Sport does within our community.

Closing date for applications is 17th of February 2023. It is expected that either online or in-person interviews will take place during Feb/March with successful applicants attending their first board meeting in April 2023.

To apply, please submit your application with a CV and cover letter.
