The tenure of two Board members is coming to an end so Harbour Sport are seeking additional Trustees to their stable and highly experienced board.  Age, gender and ethnic diversity are important to the composition of the Board, as are a range of commercial and professional skills.  The backgrounds and traits that they are seeking amongst the new appointees include:

  • Individuals who can bring an element of diversity; particularly female, youth or an Asian voice to the board table
  • Collegiality and the ability to work constructively with fellow Trustees and management
  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors:
    • Education
    • Health
    • Community support with a focus on youth or people with a disability.

The current Board has a strong governance culture, operates at a strategic level, and has a deep commitment to the needs of the Harbour Sport Community.    Prior governance experience is not required. You will be joining the board at a time when they are working towards Sport NZ’s Governance Mark, providing you with an opportunity to enhance your governance capability.  Preparedness to be an active contributor and be able to commit the time and effort required to do the job is key.  Only those with a current vaccination pass will be able to attend Board meetings in person.  D&O insurance is in place for all directors.

This is a voluntary appointment with a committment of 8 meetings per year, for a term of 4 years, with the opportunity for appointment for a further term.

It is expected that interested applicants will have an affinity with the region that Harbour Sport operates in but more important is a passion for the work that Harbour Sport does within the community.

Closing date for applications is Monday 7 February 2022.  It is expected that either online or in-person interviews will take place late February with appointments confirmed at the board meeting scheduled to take place on 16th March.

Please submit your application with a CV and cover letter.
