Girls in Motion at ASHS
Driving change for Active Recreation at school
The ASHS Girls in Motion program is a dynamic initiative that empowers wahine students to embrace an active lifestyle, enhancing their Hauora (wellbeing) while becoming influential advocates for physical activity.
Through a collaborative co-design process supported by Tu Manawa funding, Motion creates a space where students can engage in non-competitive, supportive activities of their choosing. Last year’s lineup featured everything from roller skating and gym-based bootcamps to serene nature walks (hot girl walks!), pole fitness, and pilates classes.
Principal Claire Amos proudly declares, “Motion is not only inspiring our young people, it has also inspired our staff here at ASHS.”
2024 will see Girls in Motion empower these incredible young women to build confidence, lead active lives, and inspire the world around them!
Hear from the ASHS Principal, Sports Director and Motion Programme Coordinator about the impact of the Motion Girls Programme
